How to remove Ice-Pick Scars
If you've ever wondered why a scar appears everytime you get a scratch on your skin then you'll be surprised to know that it's actually the body's way of protecting itself.
A scar is formed when collagen arranges itself on a wound creating a thick band of protection. In more simple terms, a scar is actually Nature's "band-aid", although no the most attractive one.
Because each body is different the healing process will vary. This means that the healing process in one individual may lead to severe scarring while in another there may be little or no scarring left after a wound has fully healed. However, once a scar has formed it may be either elevated or indented. In the case that you develop a more mild case of acne - known as non-inflammatory acne or comedogenic acne - consider yourself one of the lucky few that can walk away from an acne breakout scar-free. One the other hand, if you do notice pus-filled pimples surrounded by cysts then you are surely headed towards a scar.
Ice pick scars are deep and very narrow scars that develop after an infection from a cyst or other deep inflamed blemish has worked its way to the surface. This type of scar resembles a small hole in your skin or a very large pore. It is the worst type of scar because of the emotional pain it causes the sufferer.
Unfortunately, there are a limited number of treatments available for this type of scar:
Punch excision and grafting: Deep ice pick scars can only be removed effectively through a surgical procedure. Larger scars are filled with a skin graft after the removal process has been completed. This means that a piece of skin from another part of the body is surgically removed and place over the area that needs to be treated. Once this has been done, the area is contoured with dermabrasion so that the newly placed skin blends in with the rest of the surrounding skin.
Laser resurfacing: Laser treatments function by literally lasering-off superficial layers of the skin, wherein, creating a smoother and softer surface. This technique is one of the most useful types of treatment for acne scarring, but also one of the most expensive.
If you aren't interested in these more aggressive procedures then there is one more that may fit the bill - natural acne scar removal treatments.
It may seem unlikely that a natural cream can be as effective as another type of scar treatment such as dermabrasion. And it may seem more unlikely that this type of product can actually get rid of scars or treat an ice-pick scar, but Nature has a funny way knowing exactly what your body needs. But before purchasing just any natural product, make sure it contains a special natural ingredient called Helix Aspersa Muller Glycoconjugates which is a compound known to treat pitted acne scars, rolling scars and acne scarring. Don't forget - effective treatment is all about finding the right product.
