Perhaps it is a better known & old player that entices your mind: "Now, triumph over wrinkles without toxins, lasers, or injections. Estee Lauder Research boldly advances the fight against wrinkles-and now age spots-with our most comprehensive treatment ever."

Can any cream prevent the use of facial muscles as some people willingly do by shooting a toxin into their face?

Estee Lauder, Revlon, L'Oreal, Klein Becker, and all the big names are trying to sell you BOTOX and RETIN-A wannabes but those are drugs that require a prescription and have structural effects on skin. The REST of THE INDUSTRY sells "cosmetics" that are supposed to only change "the appearance of skin". Since that is already taken care of by MAKEUP, they jump on the bandwagon by making-up clever concoctions of pharmaceuticals, botanicals, herbs, or plain dangerous chemicals. They add absurd claims and use BOGUS language instead of getting their own EXTREME-MAKEOVER and really doing their own research to find what does work.

Results from BOTOX injections are so instantaneously impressive, it's no wonder it has become the most commonly performed cosmetic corrective procedure in the US, and such a recognizable name. As a reminder, BOTOX injections introduce a minute amount of the synthetic botulinum type-A toxin into the muscles of the forehead (or other areas where it is injected). This prevents the use of facial muscles (you can't frown or lift your eyebrows after being injected until the effects wear off, typically four months later). Within 24 to 48 hours of receiving BOTOX, forehead wrinkles are gone. BOTOX poses little to no risk. It has been used for decades to treat eye spasms, dystonia, cerebral palsy, and more recently, wrinkles. Recent studies have even found it to be helpful for migraine relief.

So is there any cosmetic lotion or cream that can work better than BOTOX, or is in any way, shape, or form similar to BOTOX? The short answer is a resounding no!

According to Dr. Alistaire Carruthers, Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of British Columbia, who has also published many studies about BOTOX, you can't affect muscle movement topically. To have that effect on muscles would be problematic for the body, not to mention it would affect muscles you do not want "relaxed", such as those in your hands or near your mouth.

But of course none of that ever stops the cosmetics industry from trying to convince women otherwise. In reality there are no ingredients that can come remotely close to creating the improvement in wrinkles that BOTOX does. As nice as it would be to get BOTOX-like results "without painful injections" it just isn't possible. (By the way, about those painful injections, I'm not going to pretend BOTOX injections don't hurt, but from my experience and that of others I have spoken to, it is more of a mild discomfort than a painful experience.)

Many people do not care to paralyze their facial muscles as BOTOX does. They are looking for something that helps to age gracefully and makes their skin look cleaner and feel healthier, not to delay, cover up or numb a few wrinkles away.

Most purported healthy skin care creams work by just “plumping up” the wrinkles with moisture. This is a quick fix approach that doesn't really repair or tighten your skin. It is well-known that ultraviolet light induces harmful photochemical reactions in the skin and inflammation therein.

During exposure and as repair of the UV sun damage takes place, super-oxide radicals are formed in the skin.  UV irradiation also causes some microvascular damage in the skin. This leads to local hemorrhage and "leakage" of blood cells into the dermis. Iron from the hemoglobin accumulates in the extra-cellular matrix as Fe +2 and Fe +3. It is known that iron catalytically participates in the conversion of superoxide radicals to hydroxyl radicals, a species which is known to be very damaging to tissues.

In addition to their role in UV sun radiation induced tissue damage, oxygen radicals are known to be capable of reversibly or irreversibly damaging compounds of all biochemical classes. Some of these compounds include nucleic acids, proteins and free amino acids, lipids and lipoproteins, carbohydrates, and connective tissue macromolecules. These compounds may have an impact on such cell activities as membrane function, metabolism, and gene expression.

Reduced Cellular Turnover

Billions of cells die in the body every day by normal processes (apoptosis).  These dead cells need to be recognized by phagocytes and cleared rapidly. 

Specific cells in the body are designed to ingest dangerous particles, such as invading bacteria.  These professional eating cells, or phagocytes, also eat dead or dying cells.  This process of clearance of dead or dying cells is necessary to allow for the repair of damaged tissue and to maintain normal tissue.  When this process of cellular ingestion (phagocytosis) is deregulated, the body becomes susceptible to chronic infections and autoimmunity disorders.

Inflammation is a noun, the verb that reflects the process is “inflammaging”

Inflammation is what we see as a result of the first response of the immune system to infection or irritation and may be referred to as the innate immune cascade. Imagine your body calling 911 for help. At the first sign of inflammation, all those cells respond like fire trucks to a blaze.   Inflammation normally constitutes the body's initiation of healing or putting out the flames we can say.

It is important to understand that inflammation is neither "healthy" nor "unhealthy" on its own: Inflammation helps fight disease, but it comes at the cost of suspending the body's normal immune and catabolic processes. In the short term this is often a valid trade-off, but in the long term it causes progressive damage.

The problem with inflammation is our body reacts in very much the same way it learned to react during the millions of years of our evolutionary drift. By sending to any site of injury and insult to our body, even to the slightest one, all its army of immune system soldiers (lymphocytes, macrophages, neutrophils...) , overcharged with chemical death weapons to get rid of the offenders, with no consideration even for its own cells that might happen to be in their way and also do get killed. This recent scientific reports some of the cellular and molecular effects underlying the observation that the snail serum has regenerative effects on human skin.
